The purpose of study and rationale for Computing at Broadbottom Primary School

A high-quality computing education equips pupils with the ability to use computational thinking and creativity to understand and change the world. At Broadbottom, our school vision is ‘Let your light shine,’ and the computing content we deliver enables pupils to aspire, by being digitally literate – able to use and express themselves and develop their ideas through information and communication technology so each child can be active participants in the ever-developing digital world.

This rationale is for pupils and staff to be independent users of digital technology, doing so safely, respectfully and responsibly. Following the E-Safety policy, we ensure that pupils are able to recognise acceptable and unacceptable behaviour. They know a range of ways to report concerns about content and contact. We promote safe exposure to relevant information and teaching guidance, to inform pupils of the risks they may encounter as they navigate social media platforms, games and electronic technologies in their lifetimes.

Keeping safe in a digital world is crucial.
